One more tantrum and then we are done
I guess we are due for about 6 more inches of snow. I hope this is it for awhile. There is still some piles of snow hanging around from the December snow storm.
This week I bought most of the seeds for the garden. Tonight I couldn’t sleep, so I planted all the ones that start inside. It was so nice to play in the dirt. We are planning a big garden this year. Tina and I are both chomping at the bit. It’s funny because not too many years ago, she had absolutely no desire to do any gardening. Now she’s hooked. If we can just get Rick hooked.
The remodel of the barn is starting. The first thing we have to do is get those nasty chickens penned. They roost all over the barn and leave their dropping wherever they want to. They have a big chicken yard to play in, but at night I want them in one spot. I’m working on the chicken pen and turkey pen at the same time. Meanwhile, Doris is doing her best at nesting. The first time is always confusing for them and she’s having a hard time staying on the nest and keeps rolling the eggs around to a new spot. So far she’s lost 3 or 4 in the shuffle and broken about the same amount. Now I see why turkey eggs have such hard shells. Hopefully she will keep trying until I can get some turkey babies from the store for her to adopt. It’s a month away, so it might not work. Barbie, her buddy is wanting to give it a try too. The timing is better for her. She’s lonely without Doris and is really a nuisance when I’m working in the barn. She keeps getting in the way.
Our baby rabbits arrived without failure. Misty has 6 or 7 and Harriet has at least 8. Their eyes open at 10 days old and from that time on, they are up and out of the nest explorng. That’s when they get cute. That’s also when mama gets cranky because she has no way to get rid of them.
I had a bunch of blood work done per Doctor’s orders and can’t believe how healthy I am. My 90 day average blood sugar was up a little over last time, but when you figure I hardly got any exercise during that whole time, and was waited on hand and foot, it was pretty much expected. The Doctor wrote me a note saying good job. The pain in my hip/back is about gone. Now I’m dealing with the pain in my upper back that I always get in the spring. Tina gets headaches when we get a low pressure and I get a back ache. We aren’t much fun to be around when the weather’s bad.
Hope all is going well for you. Have a great day!!!
