A little excitement on Dog Creek Road
When I got to work today, there was a picture of an escaped convict on the desk. Several times during the day as I went in and out of the office I kept seeing his picture. He had escaped from a work crew at Swift Creek about 5 miles from here and in Skamania county.
When we came home from work and were walking from the truck to the house a man was walking down the road and came in and talked to me trying to bumb a cigarette. Boy was he at the wrong house. He acted odd and looked very much like the picture I had seen at work. Tina had let Astro out to greet me and he went right for him. Buddy was also going crazy behind the fence. Seeing the new dog, he left quite suddenly. Fortunately, I’m the kind of person who keeps their cool until something is over.
I went into the house and we called the Cowlitz Sheriff dispatcher who knew nothing about the excapee and eventually hung up on me. Fortunately, we had just seen the deputy stop a speeder so Tina and Rick went to talk to him. He too knew nothing about the escapee so they took him to work to look at the APB and picture that was sitting on the desk. The man went to the end of Dog Creek Road and crawled up behind a log and was taking a nap.
We still don’t know if he was the excapee or just an odd stranger. When Tina went out his hat was laying in the middle of the road, so we are assuming that the Sheriff Deputy has taken him away anyway. We will have to watch the evening news to see if it was the guy.
That’s our excitement…..Tomorrow is the Bong Family Reunion…more excitement.
Have a great day!!!!
