Here is the new Mama hen with 3 of her babies. I’m not sure if she is done yet because she went back to the nest with them. There are a lot of eggs still not hatched.
Two that aren’t in the first picture were sitting all alone in the grass when I went out, so I couldn’t resist and picked them up. Fortunately, I had the camera with me. Honest, I didn’t hold them very long, but when I went to put them back with Mama, they kept following me instead. I’m beginning to think I’m a poultry magnet. Needless to say, Mama wasn’t very happy with me. I practically had to tuck them back under her to get them to stay.
The two that I had were blessed with leg feathers. Their Grandmother was one of my very favorite hens. I named her Ducky because she looked like one of those old fashioned pull ducks whose legs rolled when you pulled them. The feathers make them so cute when they run.
