I’m a computer idiot!!!
You all knew that. I couldn’t figure out how to get on to post when the computer didn’t automatically put me in the right place. Today I got brave and tried a few things and got on. At least I hope that’s where I am.
We’ve been having so much fun and anguish with our birds. My mama’s are so confused, but I think I’m keeping it straight. One mama hen has chicks with her and another is setting on chicken eggs, but the rest are confusing.
One Mama has a peacock and 3 turkeys in her flock. She had 4 turkeys but apparently doesn’t like white and one was seriously beat up by mama and it lived with me as the new mama for a couple of days. It was doing very well, but I think there was something wrong (and the mama knew it) because it didn’t grow and cried all the time.
I also have a duck and 2 turkeys setting on chicken eggs. We will see how that goes. The turkeys are so heavy that they keep stepping on the eggs and breaking them. I guess trying to beat Mother Nature has it’s pitfalls. Once everyone hatches out we will a very diversified set of families.
My garden is going crazy. Yesterday, I got my first new potatoes and shared with the neighbors. Today, I stole a stalk of celery and picked peas for dinner. When the crook neck squash is ready we will be soooooo sick of it because there are a million of them.
I’m not happy with the broccoli and am concerned about the heirloom tomatoes. The plants are growing leaps and bounds and there are lots of blossoms, but the plants don’t look well. Maybe that is just the way they are supposed to look. The rest of the tomatoes are doing great. The lettuce season is about over, but there are many salads left to consume. I wish it would last long enough for tomatoes, but doubt that will happen.
My experiment with “The Three Sisters” pumpkin, corn and pole beans is off to a rough start. Everything is growing great except the beans are getting ahead of the corn. Maybe I should have planted the corn a week or so ahead of the beans. Next year…..
I’ve been taking 4 spoiled turkeys out in the garden with me and they are getting so that they expect it every morning. They run, fly, chase bugs and butterflies and really have a blast while they follow me around the garden. But when they get tired, they start to whine and I have to sit down and let them have a nap on my lap or close to me. Then when the short nap is over, they are up and about again. It really slows me down, however.
That’s about it for now. Have a great day!!!!
