Update time

I was just looking at the baby geese this morning and my, how they have grown. I will have to get another picture soon. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to spend enough time with them and they are growing up without the close relationship I like to have. The baby turkeys and guineas are also growing by leaps and bounds. The guineas are flying out of their box and roosting on the sides of it. After going to bed several nights ago, I was startled by a cry of terror from the room they are in (some day that room will be my bedroom) and I hurriedly went in to see what the problem was and one of them had flown outside the box and wanted desperately to get back in. Of course, he didn’t want to be captured to be put back inside. I finally got him cornered and was able to put him back. He chattered with the rest as if telling them of his adventure and hasn’t flown out since (that I know of) I got the call that my peacock eggs are ready to set. This will be a new adventure. Rick wants nothing to do with them, but I know when they get hatched, he will fall in love with them. We tried last year to catch a pair to bring home and it was a nightmare, and I think he is still thinking ours will be like that. Between the guineas and the peacocks and the roosters, we will have a very noisy back yard and barn yard. I can hardly wait, and am hoping my neighbors agree. As if we aren’t busy enough, Rick and I have part time jobs working in the local resort. It’s nice to get out of the house and do something physical but I was really feeling the “pain” the first couple of days. Being on my feet 8 hours a day was hard at first. We’ve had a couple of days off now, and I’m eager to have an easier week. Rick had his meetings yesterday checking his progress and they are very happy how he is doing. We are about to find our “New Normal” and it’s looking promising. The job is helping him to have something to look forward to. Also, the change in medications seems to be a good thing. Maybe (fingers crossed) this is all behind us at least for awhile. I had my first rhurbard sauce on my toast this morning. Yum!! It will be even better when I can mix strawberries in it. Strawberry/rhubarb jam is one of my favorite and I’m hoping to get lots put up this year. We also had more asparagus with our dinner. It just gets better and better. The recent rain after the stretch of sunshine has the garden growing by leaps and bounds. Now we are having more sunshine, so it should really take off. The heirloom tomatoes that I put in way too early covered by glass, are settled in, nice and green and growing so fast. Whew!!! I was worried that I was being stupid. I probably was, but lucked out. Off to work for me. Have a great day!!!!!
