A walk to the garden
It seems Mother Nature can’t make up her mind whether it is supposed to be warm or cold. For several days we had 70 and 80 degree days and it was absolutely wonderful. Then suddenly it was in the 40’s and 50’s for days. Today it is at least 70, but from what I am hearing we are back in the 40’s tomorrow and several days after tomorrow. It’s May, so this can’t last forever!!! My garden doesn’t know what to do. So far everyone is doing okay except for the tomatoes who are under glass and shivering. They are putting on new leaves so it must not be too bad for them. The peppers don’t know they are cold and are getting almost too tall for the glass I have over them. I did a lot of experimenting with my garden this year and we will see what the outcome is. Again we are having asparagus for dinner. I will never get sick of it. We have waited 3 years for these babies to get big enough to feed us and feed us they will. I planted 12 more plants this year so they can feed us in a couple years. And once they are finished feeding us, they have a gorgeous fern that is in front of the compost pile and we don’t have to look at it. Rick mowed the front lawn this afternoon. Before he got to the dandelions I dug up all that were blooming. You can’t believe how much the rabbits love dandelions. Especially Misty. She’s starting to pout when I give here carrots for her fresh treat. Both Misty and Harriet are due to deliver any day, so I have been giving them special lovin’ and special treats. I also found some huge clover leaves today so when I go out there, they will be happy campers. Harriet always gets a little hormonal during this time and has been stamping her feet and me and lunging at me. Once the babies are born, however, she will be my best friend. They are both sweethearts. Blanche (pure white and beautiful) my new female is just ready to start having babies, but it still scared to death of me. When she was growing up, I was stuck inside not being able to walk so I was a stranger to her once I was able to do chores again. It’s taking some time to tame her. Yesterday, she took food from my hand for the first time. That was some progress. Soon she will be meeting me at the cage door and then climbing all over me like the other two do. It’s the treats they love, not me. Well, enough for today. I have a million things to do and when I took a quickie trip out to the garden it took me over an hour to walk back. You know….a weed here and a weed there and stop and admire this and that and look how the hosta is coming so beautiful and the ferns are just getting their new curly frons. Get the picture? Have a great day!!!!!
